I would highly recommend Britney and Ridgeside services. I have a 14 month Miniature American Shepherd and he has went through both puppy and adult training with Britney. I cannot say enough good things - I’m so thankful we were paired with Britney for Blue! I understand it’s a significant investment, and scary trusting your pet in the hands of someone else, so I’m sharing a few details of our experience below: 1) First experience (puppy training): Our smart, and energetic herding dog was impossible to walk on a leash before meeting Britney (and yes, we went to “obedience/puppy” classes on our own prior). I also think it’s important to note, he was still small and he had a very positive socialization experience with other breeds at the training facility! 2) Second experience (adult training): He stayed with Britney for adult training while we were away for our destination wedding. It’s stressful traveling and leaving your pup, but knowing he was in her hands was such a huge relief. He’s my shadow, but when Britney came to pick him up, he ran to her like she was his favorite person! It gave me such a peace knowing he obviously adored her and was in the best of hands while we were away. 3) Communication! Britney updated me on Blue’s progress and overall well being. Also, if I just missed him and wanted to check in, she was always responsive and patient with me too! 4) Training: She’s a dog whisperer!!! As you can see in the picture I’m attaching, Blue is off leash in several situations. He’s very obedient, the training is everything as promised. He really is the perfect pup for us, and that’s in large part due to her training and education. Blue does well in almost any situation he’s in, for example he is around several breeds of dogs on a daily basis and is well socialized. He has flown, been on several road trips, stayed in hotels, has went to nursing homes, restaurants, doggy daycare, stores, etc. and it’s an enjoyable experience having him with us!

My Bille Jean, a Chesapeake Bay Retreiver, spent three weeks with Scott Allen and Meg Little at RIDGESIDE K9! Yes it was a very long three weeks without her being at home, but my husband and I had no control of her! When we would open the back door Billie would high tail it and jump in the pool. Yes she is a Chessie and loves water , but she would swim in the middle of the pool and not get out when she was called. My morning swim to retrieve her fully clothed was not fun! Bille , a full of life 9 month old, would also jump on people, counter surf and would just would not listen in our home and she was making our well mannered Bernese Mountain Doodle so frustrated! Long story short, Bille came home a totally different well trained Chessie! I have had used different trainers in the past with our prior Chessie but no one compares to RIDGESIDE K9 who I highly recommend!

We sent our Weimaraner puppy to Brittney when he was 6 months old. He’s now a year and still behaves very well. We’ve referred three other friends and our new puppy goes back in November. Everyone we’ve referred is as equally pleased. Aaron & Ridgeside are more than dog trainers. They are a family of hard working, amazing humans. I encourage you to follow them on FB for awhile. No doubt you’ll send your puppies there too.

I can’t say enough good things about Ridgeside K9, specifically Britney. She recently trained our 6 month old chocolate lab for 3 weeks. During that time she worked her magic and brought us back a better version of our sweet, goofy guy. She sent tons of pictures and answered all of our questions(there were a lot of them) and then patiently spent hours training us so we could continue reinforcing what Beau learned. We receive compliments almost daily about how well behaved he is. We live in a busy neighborhood and almost always walk him with no leash. I would refer anyone looking for a better behaved dog to Britney. I would absolutely use her again.

Our sweet 10 month old golden retriever Abby, spent 3 weeks with Britney. Abby came back home to us much sweeter and well behaved. It is a joy now to take her with us and to go on long walks. Britney definitely worked Abby into off leash especially in our neighborhood. Ridgeside training is definitely worth every penny to enhance the life our puppy and give us the enjoyment she so deserves. Hands down Ridgeside is the best! Thank you

Boarding our German Shepherd with Matt G. was the best decision we ever made!! Not only did he come back so well behaved but Matt took all of our worries and concerns into consideration every step of the way. He was always so polite and responsive. While also updating us about our Grizzly. I highly recommend him to any and everyone looking for an excellent dog trainer that goes over the top! Thank you Matt!

My dog went through Ridgeside ~8 months ago. I have mixed feelings. The trainer who picked up our dog was easily three hours late, for drop off it was even longer. The trainer picked up my dog, took them with her for a three week board and train. I didn't realize they were going on vacation that weekend. I understand trainers have to live their lives but driving my dog 4+ states away to a house you're visiting. I doubt my dog wasn't crated that entire time. For the training, I'm 50/50. I believe if your only goal is to have a dog that doesn't need a leash and knows place, this is a great place. My dog can be free and comes back when called. It's been fantastic, really allows me to let her have fun out on walks and hikes. If you tell her place and point to her bed (any spot she can distinguish) she will stay until free. All the above is great, the only thing is, I asked to get her leash trained and better crate trained. Now I know three weeks isn't enough to crate train a dog, however, my dog may have been left in a crate at times, but had zero actual crate training. As for leash training, which is part of the reason I waited so long to write a review, because again, three weeks isn't long enough to leash train a dog and I wanted time to keep up with what I was told to do. My dog was better on the leash, did have to correct her every 4 seconds. Doesn't actually know how to walk on a leash or what heel is, just doesn't want the corrections. After months of this I gave up with corrections and went back to leash training with treats. Now she's leash trained. Another reason I waited so long to write a review was b/c I thought maybe I am wrong and it's just me or my dog. So I've kept checking reviews to see if anyone else has had similar experiences. I've seen a few reviews with the same experience, shockingly, all those reviews seem to be missing now...

Our 1 year old Mini Goldendoodle, Mia, is a friendly, energetic girl who was constantly pulling on her leash during walks (to the point of choking herself) and trying to eat anything and everything when going outside - from mulch and grass to leaves and sticks. When we had guests over she got overly excited, which resulted in her jumping on them and not settling down at all during the visit. Playtime was a challenge as well due to her biting and engaging in rough play. As time passed, it became increasingly clear that we needed help! We researched various board & train programs in Virginia and North Carolina and are thrilled that we found Ridgeside K9. Aaron was quick to respond to our initial inquiry and answered all of our questions. He assigned our dog to train with Chris M., who was also very quick to respond! We contacted several other board & train companies during the course of our research and were underwhelmed by how long it took them to get back to us. Some didn’t respond at all! We had to wait a couple of months for Mia’s 4-week training program to begin, but it was more than worth the wait. Chris was fantastic. He sent picture or video updates every day, which we loved! Based on the reviews we read we expected them, but what we didn’t expect was the quality of the photos he sent. We got some AMAZING photos of our dog!! The 4 weeks flew by, and before we knew it turnover day arrived. Chris stayed around 2 hours for Mia’s turnover. He walked us through everything and trained us on Mia’s training. He verbally told us the instructions, showed us so we could visually take it in, had us practice and learn by doing it ourselves, and then sent a PDF so we could read through everything. We have referred to the PDF several times - it’s an excellent tool and resource that we’ll definitely use for years to come. When he was saying goodbye we could tell he really enjoyed training Mia. He cared for her like she was one of his own! It’s been a night and day difference for us since Mia has come home. She’s still the same friendly, energetic dog, but she has self control and obeys commands like a champ. Since coming home, she has been around friends and family and stays on her place cot rather than jumping all over them when they arrive. She still gets excited and clearly wants to leave “place”, but she doesn’t unless we tell her she can. She doesn’t bite or play rough anymore, and going on walks is a joy now that she heels so well! She hasn’t tried to eat anything outside and we’ve been able to enjoy walks as a family with her both on and off-leash. Chris and Ridgeside K9 blew our very high expectations out of the water. We’ve had Mia back home for 2 weeks now and her behavior has impressed us to the point that every single day we have talked about how happy we are that we invested in the training program with Ridgeside K9. It has been 100% worth it to us!

We are so happy with our dog, Kyle's behavior after spending 3 weeks at Ridgeside's board & train! Kyle spent his time with trainer, Matt Wilson. Matt was wonderful! Kyle is a 6 year old Pit Bull rescue dog and has been misunderstood all his life. Matt gave us perspective on the reasoning behind Kyle's anxiety and fears. Throughout the 3 weeks, Matt sent us a video every day explaining to us how he was training Kyle, the reasoning behind it and how we can implement it once Kyle was home. The pick-up and turn over were flawless. Matt listened to all our concerns and helped us through them. Kyle has been home for almost 2 weeks now and he is thriving! Kyle can live a more free, less anxious life because of Ridgeside K9! We recommend them a million times over!! Thank you Matt and Ridgeside K9!

We had already heard great things about Ridgeside K9 but we were worried leaving our baby during our international family trip. This was our first time being apart from our 1 year old Doberman Luna and we can't say enough great things about her amazing transformation and experience during her time at Ridgeside K9! She was with Ryan W. during her 3-week board and train. She came home as a completely different dog; obeying to commands, healing on and off leash, no pulling on leash, recall, and place - all while having fun. From the moment we first made contact with Ridgeside K9 until she was brought back to us, we were treated with professionalism and felt our Luna was always in great, caring, and reliable hands. Ryan spent 3 hours with us upon her return reviewing all her training commands, using and operating the Garmin e-collar, and working with us until we got everything right. During her time away from us we received daily updates on her progress from Ryan, along with pictures and videos. He was available to answer all our questions or concerns. Luna was treated like family. Although this was our first board/train experience, we regularly work with trainers on 1-1 or group settings. I would say the Ridgeside K9 program was by far the best value and result for Luna and our family. We highly recommend Ridgeside K9 for all your boarding and training needs.
